About 40 Acre Wood

Picture
40 Acre Wood is a small, family-owned used general bookstore in Lexington, Texas. It is open part time each week and serves a tiny rural community of approximately 1200 people.

Having opened 5 years ago, 40 Acre Wood has become more than just another retail store; it's more like one of the town's family. Open only three days a week, 40 Acre Wood offers year-round weekly story time for preschoolers, free books for home-bound seniors, a lending library program (because there is no library in Lexington), and a summer reading club (that served 15 children its first year and over 100 this past summer). In addition, every child that comes in the store receives a free book, every time, just for walking in the door.

The store is bursting with books of every genre --history, art, music, sci-fi, contemporary fiction, classics, children's, romance (paranormal and Christian), religion (all religions), foreign language (not just Spanish), science & technology, home improvement, cooking, automotive, recreation, westerns, animals, sports, and more and more and more!

Although 40 Acre Wood sees a small but consistent number of return customers, it persistently endeavors to reach out to more customers, especially children.
